Arsenal vs Tottenham

Arsenal won the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur in week 8 of the Premier League.  The Gunners silenced The Lilywhites 3-1.


 Competing at the Emirates Stadium, London, Saturday (1/10/2022), Arsenal could take the lead first through Thomas Partey.  However, Harry Kane's penalty goal made Tottenham equalize the score to 1-1 in the first half.

 In the second half, Arsenal took the lead again through Gabriel Jesus.  Tottenham got worse, after Emerson Royal was sent off, before Granit Xhaka ensured Arsenal's 3-1 victory.


 Arsenal appeared to press Tottenham since the beginning of the match titled the North London Derby. In the third minute, the opportunity was obtained through Gabriel Magalhaes' shot, which Hugo Lloris could still deny.


 Tottenham was quite difficult in the first 10 minutes. There was no threat of being stocked by Antonio Conte's men. Just in the 13th minute, Richarlison got the opportunity. However, the Brazilian's efforts can still be secured by Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

 Goal! Arsenal took the lead in the 20th minute, through Thomas Partey's kick. Receiving Ben White's prod, the Ghanaian midfielder immediately followed it up with a right-footed shot, which sent the ball sinking into the top right corner of the Arsenal goal. Score 1-0 for the host advantage.

 Tottenham tried to be patient after being left behind. The equalizer was then born in the 31st minute, through a Harry Kane penalty. A penalty kick was obtained, after Richarlison was violated by Gabriel. Kane without difficulty outwit Ramsdale, and changed the score to 1-1.

 In the remaining time of the first half, both Arsenal and Tottenham had made several chances. However, no more goals were created, so the 1-1 score lasted at half-time

In the second half, Arsenal could lead to 2-1 in the 49th minute. Gabriel Jesus who scored against Tottenham.

 Starting from the movement of Bukayo Saka in the right side of the penalty box, the young English winger fired a left foot shot. The ball goes to Lloris, and can be parried.

 His gag ball then hit Christian Romero, who was guarding Jesus. The ball turned to Lloris, and then it could be scored by Jesus for a goal in the mouth of the goal. The score becomes 2-1.

 Superior makes Arsenal increasingly enthusiastic to confine Tottenham. The visitors also got worse, after Emerson Royal was sent off in the 62nd minute, following a foul on Gabriel Martinelli.

 The superior number of players can be utilized properly by Arsenal. Five minutes after Tottenham's red card, Mikel Arteta's men could increase their advantage.

 In the 67th minute, Granit Xhaka could increase the advantage to 3-1. He got the ball in front of the box, took it a little down the left, and fired a left-footed shot for Arsenal.

 Shortly after Xhaka's goal, Tottenham replaced many of their players. Four players were withdrawn at once, namely Hoejbjerg, Ivan Perisic, Son Heung-min, and Richarlison. However, there is no significant change from Tottenham's game.

 Instead, Arsenal can still control the game. Arsenal were so free to play with the ball in Tottenham's territory, which made their opponents start to look frustrated.

 Until the game is over, no goals can be scored by Tottenham. Arsenal finally managed to maintain a 3-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium, as well as strengthen its position at the top of the Premier League standings.
